Creative Project Proposal: Duality

As an addition to my animation, I will be creating a street art piece. The piece will depict the main character from my animation, an awkward little guy, who is some variation of human. In my animation two very different sides of my character are shown, one quite sweet and the other evil. I would like this street art piece to show the duality of my character in a very obvious way as well as just being a unique form of street art. The way through which I plan on showing the duality of my character, is by using PhotoChromic paint. PhotoChromic paint changes pigment with light. For example, when not exposed to light, the paint may appear tan, but then, when exposed to light, it will appear mauve. Using PhotoChromic paint would not only create a unique street art experience, it would show the two sides of the character from my animation, and, on top of that, it would add an element of animation to still art. Using this method, I intend to create a piece that, when exposed to sunlight, will show the cute, colorful side of the character, and, when in darkness, will show the dark, scary side of the character. This piece would be on any wall or building which I could access for this project; but it would be ideal to put this piece up in a neighborhood that is in need of a tourist attraction to bring in people and improve its economy.

This technology, PhotoChromic paint, is basically just a paint that’s pigment changes when exposed to sunlight or UV light. Here is a brief video on the technology of pigment changing paint:

This project would be beneficial because it would draw in a lot of viewers’ attention because of the color changing paint technology, so it would bring people to the area around it, as well as promoting the animation itself. Most importantly, it could improve the economy of the area around it by bringing people in, and potentially improving the social opinion of the area.

Here is a video showing roughly how this piece will work!
