High Line

Somethings to think about: are humans the solution or the problem? What if humans stopped trying to solve the problem, could climate change self-regulate, like the High Line created a natural landscape in the absence of humans? Are there other spaces that have reclaimed and rebuild in the absence of human impacts?

The High Line was once a train line which had a lot of traffic accidents around the beginning of 2o century. After got abandoned for transportation use, the High Line became a terrible place which effects surrounding neighbor lives. Starting from 1999, people began to consider how to reuse this large amount of space. Finally, people decide to build a park on the train line. One 500 species of plants were brought in the space. The formation of the park helps the west coast of Manhattan to become a pleasant place to relax at.

In my perspective, having High Line is a positive thing. The invention of the park solve the basic problem of waste of space. It will be more of a trouble if the train line was still remained as a disregarded area. Moreover, having plants along the line of the west coast may solve the problem of the overloaded Co2 in the air. Using modern technology as a tool to create a eco-friendly zone not only help with people’s development of life, but also support the maintenance of  green plants in the city. Having his park is way more helpful than not having it at all. The High Line is a place to communicate people with the greens no matter the greens are not originally grew in this place.

In the blue print of a lot of designer’s imagination of future city. Greens are the most significant combination of the city. Plants can be solitude without human’s irrigation and plantings. However, people cannot leave plants due to health and other reasons. Thus, it is necessary to have High Line.
