CUT PORTRAIT

” CUTTING SELF PORTRAIT “

WHAT WAS THE MOST VALUABLE LESSON YOU LEARNED FROM THIS EXERCISE?

: It was somehow weird to play with self portrait through cutting and reorganizing the part of it.

Through creating space from existing space, I was able to know the impact of negative space.

Sometimes deducting, decreasing, and removing can be the best way to express thoughts.

HOW DID IT FEEL TO CUT INTO AND REARRANGE IMAGES OF YOUR OWN FACE?

: As I mentioned earlier, it was somehow weird to do cut myself portrait.

But, after few minutes, this activity came to me interesting.

Through rearranging my hair, mouse, eyes, and nose,

I saw something different and new from the familiar face.

Something like abstractive and unfamiliar.

HOW DO THESE PORTRAITS RELATE TO MEMORY?

: These portraits are the particles from my memory which I can’t remember at all.

I’m built from memories which telling me who I am, so these portraits are part of it.

HOW WILL YOU USE THIS PROCESS TO IMPROVE YOUR BRIDGE PROJECT 1: POSTCARD PROJECT?

: I will try to follow the rhythm of my memory.

I will think about all of my memory as a journey.

I will focus on the feelings and thoughts or something that I couldn’t explain through language.

I will try to follow the story unconsciously,

then explain the everything on the card as I did with these portraits.
