Sustainable System- Final Project Intervention

Sustainable Fashion – SUSASHION

My topic of this final project is about wastage and up-cycling in fashion industry. I am interested in the material waste in the fashion industry. In nowadays, people are wasting so much in terms of products. Fashion industry in a global scale, is valued at three trillion dollars, 3000 billion and accounts for 2  percent of the world’s Gross Domestic Products (GDP), which means there are tons of wasted goods. Therefore, I want to design an online platform where individuals can sell, buy, and share their goods in an environmental friendly method.

Speaking of material system, material production and consumption is coming up against environmental constraints in almost every domain. Most impacts during materials use originate from fuel and electricity, needed power machines. In the garment manufacture, a t-shirt and a pair of jeans take more than 5000 gallons of water to manufacture. Apparently, it takes an abundant of energy to manufacture garment. It is harmful for the environment, because the garment productions result pollution and create waste. However, using recycled cotton saves 20,00 liter of water per kg of cotton, a water intensive crop. Moreover, consumers throw aways shoes and clothing, and average of 70 pounds per person annually. America, as the largest exporter of second hand clothing, which exports over 1 billion of use clothing every year, is a potential big market for thrift shopping.

Since over 70% of the world’s population use second hand clothe, I want to save the industry by uncoiling garments through reselling. I design a second hand shopping and sustainable fashion brand shopping website. This encouraged people to be more interactive to buy second hand used garments and it can be a trend to wear vintage garment. My intended audience users are all young to adult generations. Because the used clothes are generally affordable, therefore it is all welcomed. I want to create a re-fashion business system that encourages young people to live a new lifestyle by purchasing used clothe. In our shop, used cloth does not mean dirty clothe, they means clothes with good cares.

I named the website, Susashion which means sustainable fashion. Our ambitious mission statement: Fashion conserves and restores the environment. It does not deplete precious resources, degrade our soil, pollute our air and water or harm our health. Fashion protects the welfare of all living things and safeguards our diverse ecosystems. Susashion- Sustainable Fashion. Susashion is an online fashion retailer, world’s premier fashion destination for incredible sustainable shopping.
