Final Idea for Drawing

For my final, I had decided to create a political piece to address what is going on right now with the MTA system. Currently, the MTA hired 500 police officers to crack down on the “fare evasion” policy, when in reality, it is to punish low-income people of color. Instead of creating more programs to help low-income people, they decided to waste millions of dollars hiring people who continue to perpetuate violence on black and brown bodies. The people who jump the fare makes up a very small minority, and the people who tend to jump it are usually low income people of color that cannot afford the expensive fare. For my final project, I wanted to do a politically charged cartoon discussing this important topic in a satirical way.
