PART TWO: CLIMATE CHANGE AND CITIES

The environment is significantly changing through urbanization. The deconstruction and construction of ecosystems terminate the existence of rural areas that are a vital part of nature. I have always focused on environmental issues individually rather than a whole and now I view the ever-evolving infrastructure of our ecosystem as a wicked problem that continues to drastically unfold around us. I have learned through this reading that any environment that is currently affected by climate change, it continues to make an impact in increasing circumstances.

As the Urban Climate Change Research Network says “Large slum populations” this can connect to urban communities in New York with poor infrastructure due to negligence, it is likely airborne illness will surface and/or re-emerge due to degradation. This particular environment surfaces a wicked problem that is associated with redevelopment, commonly known as gentrification, deconstructing and constructing of infrastructures becomes an issue in the practice of urbanization. We are blindly influenced by consumerism in the markets of building infrastructures for individuals and families with higher income. It is not only the environment that is being affected, however, we are also the root of the problem and the victims of these consequences that generate subsequently. Ignorance is the cause of our failing ecosystem
