Research: Battery park was once a landfill and beach before the Battery Park City Authority was established in 1968. Battery Park is a well-developed community that retains its responsibility in maintaining sustainably viable landscapes. The Battery Park City Authority has implemented the designs and techniques to further their future by adopting a practice in architecture and urban planning with sustainable quality. Their plant ecosystem is properly managed based on the habitat, with locally sourced compost and non-toxic products.
Reflection: Battery was the most environmentally conscious park I have visited in New York City. I noticed the park was unoccupied of disposals, which is probably due to aesthetic reasoning. The landscape was immaculate and well maintained, a range of textures was integrated, rich in soils and vegetation. Nature drew me in, the crops and sand I passed by, which I found a rare sight in the city.
