MARCEL DUCHAMP: THE ART OF APPROPRIATION

“Art is either plagiarism or revolution” -Marcel Duchamp

American sculptor and painter Marcel Duchamp was an artist renowned for his conceptual art in which  cultivated with the idea of redefined works of art. Imitation in his own style and language, Duchamp utilizes pre-existing material and content to his creative interests. I use the same work of art to dismantle and appropriate in a different context, a visual aesthetic, with a mimic of a mosaic geometric pattern embedded in my design inlaid on Leonardo Da Vinci’s work.
