For the neighborhood project, I need to do a research of the background of the neighborhood, and what have changed in the neighborhood. However, I have a difficulty to find lots of history of this neighborhood. First I look up the pictures in OldNYC, tried to find what was different, weird or interesting in the neighborhood in the 19th century. I found some building that was in the 19th century and still exist now.
One is 
I found that the beginning of the use here is schoolroom in 1820.
Other one is more notable because it is a hot spot for people to hangout in the neighborhood.
the st Catherine’s park
First, I noticed that here is a park always has a lot of people in there and later I found out is this one in the picture, which I found very interesting.
Then I started to look at sources like JSTOR and NY TIMES for early article of the neighborhood, I just did not find much things about the neighborhood. There is a book call The Encyclopedia of New York City, have a little back ground about why the name Lenox Hill came from.
Through the history research, I have some my own interpretation that why Lenox Hill has so many medical building and Educational places. The major reason is because the Lenox Hill Hospital, this hospital is so well know from the 19th century, it was created for the immigrants who used to live in the neighborhood. Since it is so powerful and well known, it could be said that other health care started to open up in the neighborhood because they have some connotation with the Lenox Hill Hospital, they might have the same owner?
To sum up, I still struggle to find rich history background in the Lenox Hill and how could I dig even deeper with it.
