Integrative Studio Fashion: Imperfect Beauty

We were asked to look into the notion of imperfect beauty and to make it into a book. I decided on exploring the beauty of imperfect skin in a world of photo manipulation and advertisements and to contrast that by showing women in natural, confident states.

Beautiful Skin, Beautiful Skin is an interactive coloring book, where participants are asked to color in illustrations. The results would be a culmination of their own experiences, notions, learned concepts of beauty from society, and possibly prejudices.

Through the repetition of the coloring and comparing process, participants could learn and build confidence through seeing skin texture and beauty in a normalized state.

I wanted to address concerns such as colorism, and added a diverse group of women to show varying skin conditions and facial features.
