Prosthetic

For this class, we had to create a prosthetic which would aid in the simplification of life/a particular memory. For my memory I chose to focus on a time by which I was highly depressed and anxious. At that time there was nothing I needed more than instant comfort, relief from personal grief, and serenity in a time by which I lived in a constant storm.

As i theorized what I could craft for my situation, I initially wanted to create an artificial arm first aid kit that would permit me to obtain any form of instant relief that I would need. After discussing this with my partner, we decided that a better, more instant form of this would be something like an epipen.

I began to theorize the content of the epipen, and what forms of relief it could provide me with, such as instant love, a calm during a depression storm, and guidance when I was confused. In class I crafted a prototype of the “lifepen”

In the prototype pen I went to emulate the ability of the pen to be able to hold something within it, which would allow me to pack it with whatever I needed of the options I had.

Crafting the actual finalized form of the pen was a difficult task, since I am not too keen nor good at the act of physically creating.  I came across several difficulties, such as an inability to make the pen keep its form, creating a see through tube for the “tubes” to be placed in amongst other things. Whilst I was able to successfully create a see through piece which would theoretically permit me to show what form of instant need I was currently activating, the actual pen itself was a bust. In hindsight I wish I did research regarding how to create a more solid form that I would’ve been able to “use”
