Space/Materiality: Project #2: phase 1

Homework for FRIDAY- March 10 th CLASS 13- 2017-10vksqn

“Research on the history of community development and how it change through the history. Include your personal experience and how it helped to shape your identity and sense of belonging or connecting to a community.”

Definition of community: 1. a group of people living in the same place of having a particular characteristic in common.

2. A feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interest, and goals.

I started to research what the community of the 1800’s looked like. Then I started to further research how women dressed in the 1800’s and 1900’s. This is a form of community because the examples that are shown below were only achieved by a certain group of women who had societal impact and financial stability, which is an example of one specific community.

Economical concerns also determine that type of community you grow up in. There are also geographical isolation communities such as Native American tribes…

Mood board:

Ideas of constraint is something to think about when thinking about communities, because most of the time, you are constrained to think to the way your community think and act. I feel that most people are influenced greatly by where they grew up.
