working thesis and sources

Over the course the last couple weeks we have been working on honing and developing our ideas for our final paper. I have been working on my annotated bibliography to better have a concrete understanding of the topic before writing my paper. Currently we are working on writing a thesis statement for the paper,

Throughout the course of human existence every memorable event in history has been ignited by a crowd of like-minded individuals. Riot theory predicts how people think and this can be examined on the basis of  mob mentality, riot culture and the snowball effect.

below are sources I could use with explanations

Gladwell, max. “Spare us this riot of dodgy brand theories.” Marketing Week, August 18, 2011, 58. Student Resources In Context (accessed February 24, 2019).

My thesis statement I am looking at prediction of behavior and I think by looking at the history of why people do things it could be very important in finding the right answers

This article was chosen because it covers a subcategory of riot theory, it talks about brand theory which is a premise that closely relates to write theory as a whole. As the article covers how the perception of what people where’s affects how they carry themselves and also how and what they buy. This is crucial for understanding write theory as a whole as the point of the research paper was to look at how people make decisions and what leads them to acting upon their ideas. To better understand brand theory as a subcategory of riot theory Will help me unfold the greater picture of the research paper.

Hunter, Justine.”How Riots May Help Us Understand School Shooters.” Morning Edition,   October 13, 2015. Opposing Viewpoints in Context (accessed February 24, 2019).

This is a modern article that is relevant to what is happening in the world today and I think because of that it would be helpful when looking at my topic

This citation was useful for understanding the practicality of riot theory and how it can be applied two other instances in the world. This specific citation covers the dynamic of how the theory is ever-changing and can be evolved over time. This article covers an interview hosting a professor of psychology and the broadcaster. The interview goes into how this premise of thought can be applied to school shootings. And how people think and why that leads them to committing crimes. This is helpful because if the idea can be applied to topics like school shootings, it can also be applied to how to act and interact in the city.

Lucchesi, Emilie Le Beau. “Psychology of the Black Friday Mob.” New York Times, 21 Nov. 2017, p. D6(L). Opposing Viewpoints in Context,

From my paper I might specifically look at New York For instances of riots so having a paper that was published about New York City could be very helpful

This article talks about how a mob can  turn violent sometimes and what can happen as a result. This text was chosen due to the fact that when studying  a topic it is important to look at the extremes being able to see how things unfold in the worst-case scenario can I help hey person better understand how this premise works in A controlled environment. The article talks about Black Friday and how people can turn hostile this is important to better understanding the phenomenon and better seeing the Applications of the study and how it can be prevented.

Mayo, H. “Trading with Crowd Psychology.” CHOICE: Current Reviews for Academic Libraries, June 2001, p. 1836. Student Resources In Context,

This is a book published in 2001 talks about investments and training. But in doing so discusses ideas of how crowd psychology can help someone trade and make better decisions. Being able to look at this is crucial for understanding what people think and behave, being able to apply the overall topic of thought patterns and behavior to be able to apply this thought process to an already existing  career such as investments can really help someone understand this idea better as a hole.

Doyle, John.

“Canadian Idol relies heavily on mob psychology.” Globe & Mail [Toronto,    Canada], 9 June 2003, p. R2. Opposing Viewpoints in Context,

Overall this brings a modern interpretation of the issue into play. Because of that I think it will be relevant to my paper as a hole in better understanding the topic at hand

This article talks about idol Philosophy and its relations to mob mentality and riot theory. The reader sees how if one   person idolizes someone enough or if there is someone of the extreme recognition and  status they can often times a mass a large following this leads to people acting in similar fashions and once again showing traits of how a mob would act. this can overall help understand triggers  that cause people to act in certain ways which is important for understanding the topic as a whole and was why this was chosen.
