INTRO HORROR SEQUENCE (TIME

When working on this project I tried to take all that I’ve learned from the previous project and implement it into this intro sequence. I focused on the visuals first and foremost and then have the audio complemented somewhat like the icing on the cake. When looking at this project I had to tread carefully as the subject matter I chose was very specific to my topic. I chose to do a horror style adaptation of a TV show. so in doing this, I picked a theme and I decided to roll with that for my project. I chose imagery that was synonymous with horror and I did my best to included in my intro sequence

Once I had my concept grounded I began  the storyboard. This is a process in which you go through a frame by frame walk-through of what you envision the exact sequence to look like once you go through with the final cuts. Here I had just sketched basic imagery that I would imagine would be in my intro sequence. I later took this information and began  transforming it into my intro

The horror series I am choosing to showcase for my intro deals with Both physical and psychological horrors a lot is to be uncovered by the main character witch finds himself in a small town previous thought to be abandoned. The town was struck with a string of violent murders where the killer was never found. Oddly enough though the town is seen to be abandoned strange sightings still occur in the nearby forests that some of the victims were found in. The show deals with topics of life and death also themes of murder. There are a lot of instances of paranormal activity. skeletons and doll motifs are apparent throughout the series due to the symbolism of death and also the purity of children with a twist of creepiness. The TV series stems of classic horror stories of killers and ghosts.

That I have gotten on the video clips together I began sequencing at. I tried to put my story together in a way that was both eerie and unsettling. I used a lot of imagery that was related to dolls and skeletons both as a resemblance of purity and death. I tried to make it flow smoothly but when editing it I also jumbled it up so that it would read more as an intro and lasts as a story.

After working on the sequencing for a bit I try to get the effects and the visuals just right. Most of the shots I filmed on a bright sunny day and this should not coincide with my theme have a dark creepy horror story. So as you can see above I worked with the color toning of the clips to color correct them to be more grainy and disturbing. Next, I went in with the effects and I played around with the speed to get an all-inclusive video. There were a lot of alterations of color and visuals in the sequencing that ended up taking place. Furthermore, I experimented with layering a lot trying to make all the clips fit together seamlessly while also adding fire, fog and other special effects to my video

At the beginning of the video, I put a disclaimer. This was because there was one scene where there was a noose involved in it. This was purely to amplify topics of murder and death as the news is synonymous with that. It was not to offend or anyone. I felt like having the disclaimer in beginning was an appropriate way to protect myself from liability while being able to express the intro to the best liability. One key distinction when looking at that scene is at the end the person looks up with his eyes tinted black. This adds the different context to the scene and gives it a more demonic connotation and less about suicide. Went testing this out and showing it to members of the class it wasn’t met with opposition and a lot of students understood the purpose of the scene so I think it was successful

After hours of editing on Premiere Pro, my project ended up being a complex web of layers. After showing it the class I received feedback. They told me to mess around with the pacing and speed of some of the clips. I follow their advice and change the speed for my final iteration. Also, some more feedback I got from the class was to change the color tone and make it a little darker I did this to. I wanted to wait and see to see what the class thought about it before making changes for my final liberation I must say I am happy with how it turned out.

Throughout the process of creating my intro my overall theme is always remained the same despite feedback from the class. I had a vision of where I wanted to take the project and I felt like I executed to the best of my ability. Overall when working on the topic I tried  to refer to my original concept sketches too carry me through to the end. With that all being said I’m happy with the final outcome.

When looking at understanding comics chapter 4, it talks a lot about the sequencing of time and how we understand it. Another thing is when looking at comic specifically they have to deal with freeze frames and taking moments of time and a form that works for the audience member to understand. In demonstrating time there’re many ways in doing so, for example, you can show a man running. There’re ways of the illustration for you to demonstrate speed as seen in the book. For me I found this very important and as we were just finishing the intro scenes I had to explore altering time to create my Visual narrative I’m without tweaking in messing with these they would’ve never worked begin with so I had a lot of fun working around in this chapter because I was able to implement some of the techniques in my final piece
