I made my erasure text from one of my favorite books, Gossamer by Lois Lowry. I skimmed through the book until I found a page with a lot of words that I liked and that stood out to me. Then, I underlined those words. I read through the words multiple times, trying to form coherent thoughts. Circling my final words, I connected them with the words in between them. I chose to use a simple black block to erase the rest of the text in order to represent the darkness and stillness in the middle of night in which the scene on the page takes place. The characters are weaving memories together in the pitch black in order to create pleasant dreams for the woman.
