Platonic solids
Inspired by the creativity of science fiction robots, robot child(not being able to find a better name for the robot) was born. The assignment was to create a new form out of the Platonic solids we had learnt how to build and because of the sharp edges of these three dimensional shapes we learnt about, the first thing I thought of was the future, then Star Wars, and finally Robots.
This project was extremely fun because I had all these shapes that could have been arranged in multiple ways and still pass for a robot which allowed me to be flexible with creativity.
Related to the name of the robot(Robot Child), while working on the project, I began to think about today’s technology. I realized the kind of technology we use today is advanced and would look alien to the average person ten years ago. I started to look at how we use this technology and wondered if we were ready for it. Looking more into our use of technology, I began to see more clearly how young we are we the use of advanced technology. This prompted me to name the robot Robot Child, which serves as a way of reflecting on our advancements.
