Sound Scape- Fela Kuti

One of the greatest artists of all times is Fela Kuti. Fela was a Nigerian born artist raised by a Pastor in a post colonial era. He grew up learning how to speak english in school and being trained to be proper in general. Like many members of well off families often did, Fela ended up schooling in England and this was when he began to find the African within himself. Deciding to go back to Nigeria later in his life, he began to make daring music which received attention from not only the general but political crowd.

In this sound scape, the two major sounds I use are an interview on his song Colomentality and the song as well. In this song he talks about the colonial mentality many of the Nigerians had, saying the British had freed these people but they had not freed themselves.
