IS2 Journal Entry Week 3 – Observation

Observation means something different from just looking. Observing something gives you a chance to look closer and discover something unusual. One time I had a chance to explore my house very closely. It was an assignment for my class at school, but I took it pretty seriously because the assignment itself was very interesting. I went back to my house and walked around the whole space. It was interesting to look at the usual place with close attention. I found out that the hallway in the house was longer than I thought and that there were small lights designed at the bottom of the wall throughout the hallway. I never knew there were lights. Also, when I went into my parent’s room, I realized that there were secret storages. They were just small closets that were placed right next to the door I enter. I guess I just passed by the closet right after I enter the room. It was more interesting to see what was inside there. All the photobooks of my sister’s and my childhood were there. Also, some cute little clothes that our siblings wore when we were like a one-year-old baby were there. I was surprised that my mom kept these clothes for that long year. I found a huge box that stored my memories from middle school. Most of them were books and papers that I used during middle school both in Korea and America. Some were pictures that I took of my friends and my family. I was a little touched by the pictures because I really missed those moments. After going through specific observations throughout my house, I found very interesting objects that I really never knew they existed and felt very happy to have this assignment.
