In this project, I was really inspired by nature especially fungus and how it grows out of organisms such as trees or decaying matter. Through the curvature and the organic shape of mushrooms, I then approached on how to make wood more fluid and not as rigid. In the end, I created a piece that rests on the body but restricts movement in a different way. A parasitoid is an organism that eventually kills it’s host and is at most times found in plants like fungus. Through this sculpture, the fungus-like sculpture represents the burdens that rest on my shoulders that slowly suffocate me without me knowing. My anxiety like fungus grows around me allowing me to move until I am restricted.
