The Futurist Manifesto

Filippo Tommas Marnetti’s piece, The Futurist Manifesto, was published on February 20, 1909 in a French newspaper. The article, written as an introduction to Futurism for the general public, was considered to be the start of the Futurist movement. This Futurist group contained a number of Italian men with varied backgrounds including poetry, literature, painting, sculpture, etc. In their work, they expressed the idea of constant motion, always looking ahead in life and distorting various things that they thought did not have value in life. The rise of the Futurist movement valued war and loved speed, which promoted the use of technology in art and overall affected art in the 20th century.
