Proposal:
This class opened up a lot of exciting and new ways to expand my artistic expression as well as the typical illustration based art that I am used to making. A great portion of this class had a lot to do with sculpture and making doll like figures. I was quite fascinated with using this concept in my own art, even with my low experience working with clay and other molding material.
For my projects, I would like to make a set of puppet dolls, and a set of masks.
I am really interested in really putting in my time and effort into making may characters into 3d models, with unique features and movements like a puppet. I plan on creating characters with these types of material.
Clay (monster, self drying, or baking) I plan on exploring the best options
Acrylic paint
gloss/varnish
filler for molding(aluminum foil, newsprint, cardboard, wire)
hot glue
I also plan on exploring more alternative materials that I can work with.
These are examples of a few of my character design styles. These aren’t potential ideas for my projects, just examples:
For the masks, I chose this because I can work with faces, I am very inspired by facial features and expressions in my work. My plan is to make a series of masks, inspired by my facial art style and my imaginative expression of character design
materials I plan on using:
Clay
plastic
filler(Foil, newsprint, other stuffings)
fabrics (all sorts)
chains, rhinestones, studs, nails
acrylic paint
It’s not often that I plan out a set narrative or story for my artwork. My art does have themes, but they are meant to be determined my the viewer. I draw, design, paint, and overall create based on my emotions, the emotions of others, and observations of certain people. How they move, express, and feel. I use my imagination and nature to make what comes into my mind. My goal is to explore that.
