DRAWING AND IMAGING PROJECT 3 – WHOLE FOODS BAG DESIGN

Our last project for Drawing and Imaging was to come up with two different bag designs for the supermarket WholeFoods and a gift card.

For my first bag design I was inspired from  Giuseppe Arcimboldo, an  Italian painter who painted human portraits with fruits, vegetables, books and fish.  I wanted to re-create his painting from actual fruits and vegetables. For the back of the bag, I de-consturcted the composition back to where everything started.

For the second bag design, I wanted to do a design similar to Andy Warhol’s Marilyn Monroe paintings.

The colour scheme and the vintage look pretty much helps the viewer to understand the influence between mine and Andy Warhol’s work.

I have added a modern touch with a hashtag at the bottom which is another iconic set of words that we used to hear all the time from our parents..

For the sides of the bag, I focused on WholeFoods recycling and green policy. The other element that is on the bag is their ray of different type of products.

The gift card was the fun part of this project. Nowadays a very popular type of art started to form. Fruits and vegetables started to be the text element in the pictures. It is almost like solving a puzzle and finding out the meaning. With the upcoming holidy season, I thought that a little bit of joy and merry wouldn’t hurt anybody.
