SPACE AND MATERIALITY – PROJECT 4 – Su

This last project for Space and Materiality lead me to face my fear. Since couple of years I wanted to somehow express the political/ social disasters that are taking place in our world. Coming from such a hot point and unpredictable country, I have unfortunently witnessed the refugee crisis from point one view.  I have realised that our ‘developing’ world is becoming such a self-oriented monster that the most of the world just reads the news about people losing their lives for no reason and passes to the next news.

 

I held myself back from talking about this subject. Because I didn’t want to offend or hurt anybody. But it was time that I wanted to shape it in a way that people would make some connections with the piece and maybe think again about whats going on.

Before I started working on my project I drew three different types of drawings to understand the idea and have a whole picture in my mind.

 

I casted my hand in three variations.

 

My point in making three cast variations of my hand was to show three completely different purposes that people are out in the water. Everybody experiences the same space differently.
