2D Studio – Composition Assignment

The first assignment for my sophomore year 2D Studio in my major illustration, we were given the assignment of observing and sketching ten different human figures and creating a background/landscape design.

Working from my human figures and sketches I wanted to create a surreal and fantasy environment that not only would create a very different background but also cure my homesickness. Two birds in one stone, right?

Through out the whole summer holiday when I was back home, nearly everyday I was swimming, sailing or paddle boarding. So the sea and water elements had to be in this composition to get used to this crazy city life.

So it began.

After layers and layers of colors and patterns, the whole piece came together in a harmony.  The vibrant colors of the underwater life and creatures inspire and motivate me every time I incorporate them in my work.

The Final Composition

It’s been a nice start to the semester, bring it on!

I'm an artists in the making. I have thoughts under construction and feelings under protection.
