In my novel I wanted to illustrate Franz Kafka’s In The Penal Colony. I decided to use india ink and white acrylic with ballpoint pen to illustrate the novel through a creepy type of lens. I also used newsprint as the paper to give it a more eerie atmosphere. I used text directly from his writings paired opposing the visuals, because I wanted the reader to be able to choose between reading in depth or skimming the book by looking at the illustrations. The pages are arranged in the dual page printing order.
