Sears the goat

concept:

This is a puppet I created based on one of my friends that I believe to be a kind of antihero. I chose to make him a goat because of the goats unchanging expression, and because they are so weird and quirky like him. Sears the goat is indifferent to most happenings, but can get worked up and angry about irrelevant things that sometimes happen to appear moral and courageous.

process:

I created the head using tinfoil and paperclay. Afterwards I layered shredded Muslin to create fur. I intuitively made a form that fit around my hand to make the glove shape out of felt fabric, and then layered the clothes ontop and sewed them into the shape I wanted them to be. The legs inside of the pants I created by wrapping plastic bags in thread to shape them.
