Music Box Deconstruction
Compositions and dimensions
Process
Throughout deconstructing my object, which is this music box; I prepared tools that were obvious that I need, for example, small screw driver and flat screw driver. In the progress, when I see different accessories in the music box, I find tools that are logical to open it, such as a wire cutter to take small pieces of metal out. The whole process was basically starting dissecting from the obvious anterior, slowly to the interior of the music box.
Written Reflection
From the book called ‘Flatland: A Romance of Many Dimensions’ by A square, I find the concept of seeing all objects or shapes from far away, we see the object or shapes in ” a straight-line…and nothing else” (12). In this project, we played with compositions, where we played with the accessories/parts to make different layouts. After we camera it from the top, so we can see all the parts in detail and we may know that they are 3D objects. If we capture it from the side and far away, it will look like a straight line, where we are not able to define what parts are there. Therefore, it is particularly important to know well how to capture the compositions and how the shadows of the objects produce 2D visuals to let us know that it is a 3D object in real life.
