I chose this spread because, for me, I think sketchbooks are a place to plan your installation or jotting down your ideas or even doing researches and experimenting materials or maybe small sketches from daily. Each time, opening up someone’s sketchbook is really interesting to see how they have planned and changes how many times of their ideas to get to their final work. I particularly found this one interesting because of how this person has shown you the process and the research that she did about textures and objects around the city. Moreover, I like how she had printed out her final work additionally to show us. The clothing that she made is also well think through, the idea of using real flower and PVC fabric that is waterproof.
This caught my attention because of how intense it looks. Although there aren’t any specific really detailed drawings, the colors and the strokes of the utensil that this person has used showed textures and patterns. From distances, the spread looks like an oil painting and I like the color of black and red it has used, it stands out a lot. The colors made the drawings itself bolder and convey a theme of ‘darkness’.
