Transformation Drawings
Proposal
My original ensemble is a traditional Chinese clothing piece called Hanfu clothing and my other archival photo is a suit. The transformation that I did are changing the Hanfu to my own design with modern aspects and with complete different fabrics. Moreover, I am mainly using dark colors and layering technique in my design; my design will be a one-piece dress.
The first feature I changed is the collar, I changed the traditional collar into a high neck collar with a sheer fabric coning out from the round collar, so it forms a high neck collar. Moreover, the sheer collar will be made out of black organza. Furthermore, the round coll
ar which extends the top of the dress is a long sleeve shirt, which is the second feature that I will change from the Hanfu; mainly redesigning the sleeves. The original sleeves are wider at the ends, therefore I redesigned it to oversize sleeves with the upper part more fit in and tighter. The top and the bottom of this dress will all be made out of woolen fabric, which is used for suits and it will a pattern with lines that suits usually use. So, this is my third feature which I will transform. Hanfu is made out of mostly silk, so I changed the silk fabric to woolen fabric, where I also brought this idea from my second suit archival photo.
Furthermore, going into the details of this one-piece dress, at the chest part of the upper part of this dress, there will be a slightly large pin horizontally placed. On the other side, at the black of the upper part, there will be two quartilatral patterns made out of black PVC fabric and mustard color vinyl fabric. Also, lower part, where the dress is loca
ted, there will be pins placed by gradient on the woolen fabric and there will be another second layer of black organza on top of it. The second layer using black organza will make the dress look more puffy too. The sides of this dress will have ribbons with the same material as the dress and with different lengths coming out of it. Going on, to make this one piece dress, I will need to buy 100 safety pins, 1 slight larger safety pin, 2 1/2 yards of woolen fabric, 2 yards of sheer fabric, 1/2 yard of black PVC fabric and 1/2 of mustard vinyl fabric. My estimated budget will be $160 dollar(if not counting sewing supplies).
