Identifying the key details, components + elements-
- Steel beams+Concrete slabs+Glass
- Reclaimed pine flooring (recycled)
- Utilitarian fire stairs
- Cascading decks visible from a distance
- Assembly- Bolting
- System of metal panels present that surround the space. Bolted to a metal grid, it is then attached to the steel beams.
- Visibility through the building entrance- large windows present on the west side to the Hudson River.
- The facade is an asymmetrical form. It has an industrial undertone that compliments the Highline that exists right above it.
Visit to The Highline
James Corner Field Operations & architect Diller Scofidio Renfro.
- Steel+Concrete+Wire
- (beams connect steel structure to the ground, fixed in concrete)
- Bolts & Nuts
- Assembly- Riveting and Welding
- Elevated pathway includes vegetation, wooden benches
- Significant system noticed- interaction of the concrete to transform into a seating element. Lifting off the walkway (system A) a inclination is formed and then continues in a plateau (system B) and returns to fuse back into the ground plane (system A).
- For support, the wood interlocks with metal sitting in the opposite direction, periodically (system C).
