Sticker Project / Drawing Through Making Center

Which gestalt principle did you use? How is it reflected in your image/window-scene? Why did you choose this Gestalt principle? Did anything surprising happen when you found an interaction between the scene through your window and the sticker on the window?

I experimented with continuity, rhythm, and figure/ground. In the photo with the transmission towers, I made use of the rail to divide my stickers and spaces them evenly, allowing the towers in the background to frame the center sticker. The placement of the stickers feels like you’re looking into the windows of the building, yet the background is grass and sky, so it creates an interesting combination.

In the photo of the stairs, I experimented with closure and proximity but used the shapes of the stickers more than the lines on them. I feel there is a good balance between the ink lines and the graphics on the ceiling. In the photo with the buildings and trees in the background, I used figure/ground and continuity to explore the relationship between the parallel lines in the buildings. The organic shape of the tree branches creates an interruption in the geometric buildings, it creates asymmetry in the composition but it feels balanced because of the similar color of the roof in the top right corner.
