House of Yes Pitch

My approach to this brief is centered around queer nightlife as a form of sanctuary. When we enter these spaces, we allow ourselves to escape our daily personas and express our true selves. Especially for queer people, there is a certain self-suppression we are all subject to as we navigate a heteronormative world. The imagery I am using for my project is intended to celebrate queer culture and show the transformative process of getting ready for a night out. I intend for these animations to be projected in or out of sequence either in the main space or the backroom at House of Yes. Playing off the themes of the logo, I am experimenting with bright colors against black. I also am trying out a strobe effect in my animation.

Moving forward I am working on more dancer/skeleton motions, the shedding of our “day” skin, breaking of glasses or computers, people making out, a day to night transition, and whatever draws inspiration from visiting the venue. The attached images are gifs but may not be able to be viewed as such through this platform.
