Visual & Auditory Experiment Sketches

Bridge Project #2:Visual & Auditory Experiment

Notes:

no sound:
-hearing my body move
-not hearing people from far away
-didn’t notice simple thing in front of me ex:the car stopping to my left
-brighter colors

no sight:
-intensified sound waves
-seeing the image in my mind even though my eyes are blindfolded
-more movement/awareness
-sounds became layered, hearing things over each other instead of focusing on one or two things at a time

For our bridge project we decided to make our own zoetrope/praxinoscope. With the mirrors, presents of light as well as images we hope to covey an overwhelming feeling of blindness yet color. The idea was developed through a serious of questions and thoughts and in the end I hope it gives me the same feeling that I had when sitting blinded at Washington Square Park. Although I could not see what was in front of me I had the images flashing in my mind when I heard the different sound around me. In a way I felt present but felt insecure knowing that I actually can’t see whats happening. To give our presentation an even better connection to our audience we plan to add audio to the background while the zoetrope/praxinoscope is spinning. While spinning and seeing the images flash buy we would so hear the intensified sound that we heard while we were blinded.
