Polyhedrons

This project was a fun and challenging exercise to get familiar with polyhedrons and prepare for the projects we will have in the future. We were given a worksheet with little diagrams of five polyhedrons and assigned the task of enlarging those to create three dimensional polyhedrons. Once the plans were drawn out, I folded all the edges to make sure they were clean and crisp, and carefully glued and attached each tab. I started with the tetrahedron, then octahedron, cube, icosahedron, and finally the dodecahedron. I did them that way in the order of size and difficulty. Obviously the smaller, less complicated shapes were easier. The icosahedron was made up of triangles, which were manageable, but there were 20 sides and it grew challenging to glue the tabs and get them to stick as the shape closed off. The dodecahedron was the most challenging because it was made up of pentagons. Those pentagons were challenging to draw and left a little room for error that presented itself when folding up the shape. Overall I’m happy with how they came out, I enjoyed making them, and think they’ll be very useful in the upcoming projects.
