Subway turnstiles
1. Why are the New York City subway turnstiles designed the way they are?

-Why is the entrance the same as the exit?

-What could be more effective to make a better flow of people?
2. Who designed this system of the turnstile?

-Were other systems in place prior to this?

– What systems do other cities and countries use for their public transportation?
3. How long has the MTA been using this system?

– When was it invented?

– Where else is this style of turnstile used?
4. Why does the system of swiping the metrocard used?

– Who designed it?

-What else could be used and is there a better way?
5. How secure is this system?

-Does it effectively prevent people from getting through without paying?

-Are there design flaws in terms of security?
