Project #2: Navigating Space – Week 1

Week 1 Assignment:

• Curate 3-5 sites based on a shared theme.
  • One place or multiple cities.
• Conduct site visits and take photos
  • Potential signage locations, close up, far shots
•  Create 3 different directions for identity with mood boards
  • Title of tour, typography, color, signage application

Project #2: Navigating Space

In pairs, design a walking tour that makes the invisible visible.

1. Research and create an identity for place
2. Design a system of storytelling across multiple mediums
3. Create architectural elevations
4. Collaborate in pairs

Notes:

• Themes can be historical or contemporary, socio-political or personal, newsworthy or private
• Your companion piece should add an additional layer of storytelling and content
• Divide + conquer with your partner

Deliverables:

1. Identity – title, typography, color, applications
2. Signage – elevations and photo-realistic renderings
3. Companion Piece – analog or digital mock-ups
