Windows

For my project, I wanted to create a glimpse into the life of someone living in irony. My window shows a look into the life of a man who despises his job as a hotdog mascot because he is a vegetarian. I got the idea for this project by looking everywhere for inspiration. I finally found inspiration after looking for hours by turning to my right and looking at a picture of my father and i eating a hotdog that is hanging on my wall. For some reason this photo sparked the thought of what the lives of the mascots for those restaurants would be like. I loved thinking of the contrast between how goofy they were at work versus what they were really like when they were in the comfort of their home. This is where the vegetarian hotdog man came into play.

The piece shows a man, who works as a hotdog mascot in order to make money despite his hatred for meat and hotdogs in general. Along with the hotdog in the photo, I wanted to play on the lives of many people in my father’s generation who had to settle in order to make money. The majority of my father’s generation were told to ignore their dreams because their dreams wouldn’t make any money. Today’s generation follows their dreams, however they are unable to do so without doing some things that they didn’t necessarily want to do, for an example, being a hotdog.
