Bloom (Soft Sculpture)

Bloom:

For this weeks project, I was inspired by a comic that I created a few years ago. I am currently enrolled in a screenwriting class where I am writing out the story of Bloom and other characters in their world. I thought making a soft sculpture was fitting to the character due to the child-like nature of the flowers in my screenplay. I also was stop stubborn to go use my grandma’s sewing machine down the block so I decided to do demo B.

I started sketching:

I have very limited knowledge when it came to pattern making and sewing. My grandmother taught me to see when I was a lot younger and I occasionally mend my own clothing. The patter for Bloom was extremely simple and involved a circle and a petal shape repeated 10 times. It took a long time to hand sew all of the pieces and stuff them but I’m really glad with how it turned out.

This was also my first time embroidering something! I really enjoyed it and look forward to embroidering things in the future.
