The idea behind my sketches and my collages are taken from a small portion of my research paper, food waste. I wanted to focus on food waste because it is one of the biggest portions of landfills and everyday waste in the US. Since then, I have learned that there are a group of people in New York City who use that food waste to feed themselves. There is a lot of great food that goes into waste bins, with the large population and concentration of people in New York especially- it also creates a group of people named Freegans.

Furthering my research, I took a tour with the assistant of Sustainable Initiatives at the New School. We toured through the green roof above the 7th floor and the 17th floor, locations that aren’t accessible to the average person or even New School student.
