My standard selfie:

Photographed on the roof of my Brooklyn apartment, this selfie shows myself simply standing. The city skyline is vaguely seen in the background, getting a geographical sense of location. Also in the background, there is a sense of linearity, it seems my body appears one of the structures or buildings in the background. I am positioned in a manner that seems formal, as a contrast to the “abstract” selfie, this serves as my example of standard vs abstract.

Broadus’ “abstract” selfie:

This portrait of Broadus shows a painted face, in a shade of dark blue. It appears the paint bring out the features of his face, outlining joyous and blissfulness. Seen are three primary colors, the red, blue, and green on the singular earring on his right side. Was the red ball held to resemble a holding heart, in a symbol of control of emotions, or dyscontrol? Or maybe it was to show playfulness within his picture? With all the features involved, the character emerges as a clown. Resonating with the theme of playfulness, there in an impression that the face within the color is a form of entertainment.
