Oscar Niemeyer is a brazilian architect that worked in modern architecture and is mostly known for his work in brazil. He often collaborates with architects from all around the world, such as working with Le Corbusier on the headquarters of the United Nations in New York City. His innovative design explored materials like reinforced concrete. When I saw his work first I thought of sculptors rather than structures. Therefore, I think Niemeyer as more of a sculptor of space than an architect. The reason I decided to study the artist was because he is an architect that makes architecture do what it is not supposed to, he makes building behave like paintings by exploring different materials and different shapes.
