Describe:

What was the story plot? (1 paragraph)

  • Azmir’s notebook comes into the hands of Aries, who reads a book that contains the light everyday in an alternate world where New York is covered in eternal darkness. Aries shares the story with people at Grand Central station, and Deniz out as a pure human whom th elight could transfer. Deniz tries to get the light, but she ends up being unable to control it and gets blinded as a result.

  • How was Grand Central introduced into the piece?
    • It was the room covered in graffiti where Aries was reading the story.
  • What Character Artifacts were present?
    • Boombox, clothes, music
    • What did you notice about them?
      • They were all very “spooky” and filled with the theme of darkness.
  • What cultural or character perspectives were represented?
    • Grand Central, where the haunted room was.
    • How? It was filled with darkness and fluorescent light.
  • What was the space used for the installation?
    • Two spray paint booths
    • How did the team utilize the space? They took two identical rooms and made the contrast of light and dark.

    • I noticed how they used two identical rooms to express light and dark.

  • What does the work express? How does it do that?
    • The work expresses ideas of light and darkness, two opposites. They do this through the rooms.

    • The themes represented in their story are very relevant to life. The ideas of light and dark, evil and good, are classic themes represented in lots of literature.

    • What inspired their story?
