Ettore Sottsass – Experiment within Design

Italian designer Ettore Sottsass worked in a very broad range of fields such as, furniture, architecture, interiors, machines, and lighting. He often experimented within these fields resulting in his playful and re-inventive work. He was the founder of Memphis, a world-renowned design group which produced work inspired by art deco and pop art. Sottsass’ designs always seemed to bring color and shape together in a very unique way, for his time; it was considered foreign and ahead of its time. I feel like his work is something that would be created today.
