Bridge 1, Part 1: Ethnography of Bushwick

Throughout my walk, I noticed graffiti on almost every street I turned into. Mostly young people were walking around, and most of the workers in restaurants and shops were of hispanic ethnicity. A lot of abandoned buildings as well as rented studios for artist. One thing I found really interesting was a poster in a bagel shop that stated: “seeking artists collectives”. I was a listing of an abandoned building that offered studio space for artist, stating at $22/sf. Making studio space from these abandoned buildings is a good way of preserving and redeveloping building that are not in use. Overall i enjoyed my walk through the neighborhood of Bushwick because of its colorful streets and a young/creative atmosphere.
