Topic Idea 1: W14th St and 6th Ave.
Take a disused building to make a new museum and residential building. The research piece of this will involve data collection on housing, museums, and commercial space. I will be contacting urban development companies and city hall, to get a full picture on the situation of the location and general NYC. The Museum will be called MoMA WV, for MoMa West Village, and will require me to contact MoMA on their current space needs and which collections need new space.
Topic Idea 2: Bicycle and Pedestrian Citywide Link
Moving forward after the success of the Highline and Hudson River Park, the city needs more arteries that move people and keeps them uninhibited by cars or trains. My project will be driven by big data statistics to determine the route and design requirements. Like with the first idea, city hall will play a large part in the development and necessary research. Also, following projects in other cities that have been successful and those that have not. The scale of this project means that the more research and data I collect will better define the final result.
