Statment:
Continuing on exploring everyday objects in which are perceived as common or natural to us, I want to take commonplace functional objects and ultimately reconstructing the object to be functionless. In making objects that have pre-destined and determined functions and uses to be non-functional, valued or purposeful. Using silver objects, using the cold, hard and durable qualities of the material as a means to indicate seriousness. Stripping the value or function from a quality silver object and fabricating to serve no value or purpose. In doing so, I want to make connections to and reference the predetermined set of ideologies that are enforced to certain races, genders, and sexuality which result in preventing social and personal advancement that is subjected to the oppression and irrationality. Comparing the non-functional objects to these set of ideologies that negatively promote difference found within all texts.
