Reflection on “Traveling”

A serious issue appeared in Grace Paley’s personal experience, which is Racism. Racial discriminations exist in this world. It is unavoidable, cruel and upsetting. Personally, I had experienced racism in Hungary quite often. When I walked by an all Hungarian community I got weird stares, and sometimes people even shout out “Kinai! Kinai!” to remind their friends or families a Chinese is next to them. Moreover, random people on the street would even come up to me and speak what they believe is Chinese right in front of my face. I did suffer from racism when I first came to Hungary. However, as I grew up I learned how to ignore. Moreover, there are people in the world who try to eliminate racism, people who try to create a better world. It is a rough road, but there are still more kind and helpful human beings than racists.
