Bridge Project 5: Framing Fashion

The project that incorporated from last year was from my space class. I had to do a plaster sculpture standing on a stick around 100 layers of cardboard, which seemed unique and strange. The plaster on the top made it look like an alien ship coming to earth, and I am underneath the ship, representing that I am not from earth, just like Klaus Nomi.

The photographs that I took mimicked Klaus Nomi’s iconic robotic posture, which reveals his weird and stiff personality. I am more like a doll that can be controlled by anyone in the series of the photograph. I feel like I am somewhat related to my works since my designs were about weirdness and not fitting in with the rest of society. I could feel excluded from people from my high school, however, I blended in this art school. I decided the lighting should be dark since I wanted to create this sad and depressing atmosphere. I chose places that I felt like was relevant to my photoshoot.
