Extraction of Architecture from Nature.

One Architect that inspires me the most is Antoni Gaudi because his work is inspired by patterns found in nature. For my project, I wanted to work with this ideology to create new forms. While I was looking for biological images to work with, I came across the work of an artist called Karl Blossfeldt, who took detailed pictures of plants and other things in nature.  I was inspired by his work and found in them the potential to become Architectural forms.  The purpose of this project was to observe the photographs by Karl Blossfeldt and manipulate those organic forms and make them into architectural forms.  The next step was to make models out of the form I had extracted. I chose one of my drawings and made a clay model of the form I had extracted. I then created a mold of the clay model in silicone. I removed the clay model from the silicone mold and kept it as one of my models. I then used the silicone mold to cast models in different materials. The materials that I used are concrete, plaster, wax, plaster (covered in gloss paint), plaster (covered in matte paint) and chocolate.
