Figure Drawing

Throughout the course of this figure drawing module I have learnt a lot of new techniques with regards to observational drawings where I have learnt to look out for and focus on positive and negative spaces, proportions and a variety of shadings and highlights to illustrate the dark and light tones of the figure. Throughout high school, in my art classes I had never done figure drawing which therefore made this quite an interesting experience as the body is every body has a unique form and structure and it was always intriguing to define the different areas of shades from the model. At first I didn’t understand the point of gesture drawing as I found it very rough and was never able to capture the entire form on my page due to time restrains. This figure drawing module helped me better my skills with how much to spend my time on each section as well as drawing out the movement/ motion being created by the model as apposed to drawing out the details. I hope to continue having more models to draw from as its always good practice and its something that I want to strive to get better at.
